We rely on our community's generosity to provide an on going professional rescue and assistance service to the users of the Gold Coast waterways.

Marine Rescue Assistance

Marine rescue assistance is available in both full emergency and breakdown situations.
Associate Membership is beneficial to all boat owners and operators, as members may take advantage of the many facilities and services available.

New associate GOLD Membership extends the area of service provided to ensure members receive the same high standard of waterside rescue and assistance whilst boating between Kingscliff and into Moreton Bay.

24 Hour Radio Watch

Radio watch is available 24 hours of every day. This radio monitoring service is avaiable on:

Weather, Tide and Gold Coast Seaway Information

Regular weather reports, tidal information and Gold Coast Seaway conditions are available on request, by either radio or telephone from the VMR400 Rescue Base or the Seaway Tower.

Regular Information

VMR Southport provides a quarterly newsletter, V Sheet, that covers many aspects of interests to members. Advertising and articles of interest are always welcome.

Education

Booking is essential for courses, which include:
- Coastal Navigation
- Basic Seamanship
- Boat License
- Radio Telephony (MROCP)
- Basic Shipboard Safety
- Boat Handling Awareness

Most courses are FREE to members. There may be expenses for examinations and direct outlays, eg. required manuals.

Vessel & Owner Records

Full recording of details of members vessel(s), contact numbers and medical history (if provided) for use in the event of an emergency situation.

Base Facilities

VMR Southport's Base facilities, with modern BBQ facilities and undercover seating overlooking the Broadwater, are available for personal or organizational functions by prior arrangement.

Dispersals

VMR Southport is honoured to offer a dignified service to bereaved family and friends for dispersal of loved ones ashes upon the sea. A ceremony of intimacy and respect which permits the opportunity for closure and possibly meeting the final wishes of the departed.
